Question- Does the author think that the process for writing a good paper could be applied to mastering other talents, or just to those that require creative thinking?

Quote-"Very few writers really know what they are doing until they've done it"

  1. I think that the author does think it can apply to other talents, if not every skill that can be learned. Like the author emphasized in her piece, a lot of people seem to fret over what they're doing to the point of not even getting started, and just like every other skill, in order to accomplish something you need to get started. Like engineering for example, they go through a lot of bad blueprints before they decide on a good and final design. I think the key point is that encountering failures inspires success, and so in any skill, in order to get a good product you need your first failure.

  2. I think the author would agree that the process of paper writing could be applied to other creative talents, but not to talents that don't require creative thinking. Most talents involve creativity in some respect, even like in Matthew's answer above about engineering. Engineers use a lot of creative thinking when drawing blueprints and the like. However, talents like quickly solving a Rubik's cube or being able to lick your elbow don't involve a 'shitty-first-cube' or 'shitty-first-lick'.
