It is not necessary for every writer to write a shitty first draft per say, but it is necessary for all writers to write a first draft, and based on the writer and their skill level this may or may not be shitty to them or to anyone else. I believe that nobody actually writes shitty papers or drafts, they just produce works that might not live up to the works produced either by them or by peers. The use of the term shitty to describe any work is subjective and really up to the judge, so is any draft actually shitty?
